TV actress Anushka Sen is all geared up to play the role of Rani Laxmibai in the upcoming historical series, Jhansi Ki Rani. The young actress is not worried about being compared to Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut, who recently essayed the same role on the big screen in Manikarnika. In an exclusive conversation with the TimesofIndia.com, Anushka revealed that she would be happy if people compare her with the National award-winning actress.
"I don't have any pressure on being compared to Kangana Ranaut. She is my favorite actress and she is my inspiration because she doesn't come from any renowned film background. She has worked hard and reached so far on the basis of her talent. She does all women-centric roles and inspires me a lot. I always wanted to do female-centric characters and this year god has been kind that I got this role. I am going to be happy if people will compare me to Kangana Ranaut, but as she is a legend I can't imagine myself to be anywhere close to her. I am just going to focus on why my creative and channel people want rather than thinking about the comparison part," said the actress.
The 16-year-old actress also went on to add that their show will be different from the film.
"This time we are focusing on a different of Rani Laxmibai's life. The film was more about her fight with the Britishers, but we are focusing on the humane side of her life. It has been not highlighted in the film. It is going to be different from the film as it will also show the social reformist and how she fought with the internal politics of the family," shared Anushka.
The story has an ensemble cast of actors like Anushka Sen, Vikas Manaktala, Rajesh Shringarpure, Vijay Kashyap, Anshul Trivedi, and Anuja Sathe ‘Khoob Ladi Mardani – Jhansi Ki Rani’.
