Deepika Padukone, who has already been tagged the Queen of Box Office, did those roles on-screen for two movies back-to-back i.e. for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani and Padmavati.
In Bajirao Mastani, Deepika played a lover of king Bajirao, who was already married to Kashibai. She romanced Ranveer (Bajirao) and eventually became a wife and half-Queen of the Kingdom. On the contrary, Deepika played a queen in Padmavati (Rani Padmavati) who got married to Maharawal Ratan Singh (played by Shahid Kapoor) whereas her now real-life husband Ranveer Singh’s character Sultan Alauddin Khilji had a certain kind of lust for her.
Both the movies performed extremely well at the Box Office and Padmavati even went on to become the highest grosser of 2018, giving Deepika an assurance that she could play a queen well. But during a recent interaction when she was asked if she would like to play a queen again, she rather grunted and gave a certain answer is “No!”
